Treasure Hunt

Who: Trevor and -open-
When: Sometime between morning and early afternoon
Where: Elm Street (17-25)

Trevor had a new obsession, something that had stuck in his head and he couldn't shake the dark thoughts that came with it. People being locked inside boarded up houses. He wasn't normally a big humanitarian but the thought of being one of those people with nobody looking for them? For some reason it fueled him on. Hell, maybe there was food in there or drugs to make it worth his while. The scientists hadn't hesitated to leave him little treats in the past.

who: kaori and scott
where: main street
when: mid morning

Kaori had gotten the idea that everything she'd been told had been lies when she'd started seeing the houses that were boarded up. Not all of them, so clearly she wasn't in town alone, but she knew before she even got to the main part of town that what they'd said...that they were rescued, that the town was in working order, that everything was just going to be a waiting game until governmental red tape was cut through...lies. It was such a crushing sensation weighing down on her shoulders that she found a bench to sit on outside an abandoned school.

She looked down at the sidewalk, mostly just trying to get her head around the idea that instead of being trapped in a mansion...she was now trapped in a town. There would be people who needed her. She knew that, and she would stay true to wanting to help them. She'd do absolutely eveything she could, including stepping up for a leadership role, should people require that. But it didn't change the initial let down, that hard drop down into the pit of desolation.

The worst part for her was that she hadn't seen it coming. The volunteers that had been working with her--they'd all been nice, pleasant, helpful people. She hadn't had any idea that they were hiding something. The only explanation she could come up with was that they didn't know. That they had been told the story they were telling her was the truth, and they really were on the level--just being manipulated themselves. Or, they were all the best group of liars she'd ever come across. Either way, it was unsettling, and made nothing any better.

Date: Sunday, October 5th 2008

Weather: The rain has stopped, but the town is generally damp and cold all day. It's cloudy and dull and generally a depressing atmosphere. The winds pick up during the morning and there's high winds from mid-morning and throughout the rest of the day. The power starts to flicker at around midday and this also continues, though there are no actual blackouts.

There has been another round of comings and goings. Hadley, Cheryl and Brody have disappeared from town, whilst Kaori, Esme, Tobias, Emily and Saj wake up in bed in their respective houses having been told the day before that they would be being moved into the town. They had, however, each been led to believe that they'd be being driven in this morning, rather than going to sleep and waking up having been moved. None has any knowledge or information about why the town is abandoned, in fact they were led to believe that everything was normal. Esme's home has been set up to cater to her needs.

Supplies reach rock bottom today. Any store which held food has been completely gutted and even the snack food from the other stores has been taken where possible.

There are no messages for anyone at all today - in fact, on that front, everything has fallen very quiet.

If you have any events or anything going on which you think warrants a mention in the time update, please let us know!

i don't think any of us will ever be anyplace else

The rain needed to stop, in Ev's opinion. He was getting too old to keep trudging through it and letting it bring out every ache and pain. Too old to feel like dealing with getting sick, even if his surroundings were better. And it was too fitting of a frame for his thoughts and fears. The day had already been a mess between the reported disappearances and the check-up on Svetlana's house, and it wasn't over yet. It was, just like the weather, a steady downpour that would leave you soaked the longer you dealt with it.

Rest in Peace

Who: Emma
When: Midday
Where: Cemetary

It didn't take long to find Torlin's grave.

It seemed so wrong that they all had to be buried here. Even in death they couldn't go home. Could anyone find peace laid to rest in this place?

Emma sat at Torlin's grave, and set a bouquet of roses beneath the headstone. She ran her fingers over the engravings, tracing her best friend's name. Finally losing her battle with her grief, Emma ducked her head and cried.
