Another Pair of Hands

Who: Camber and Lina
Where: The Garage
When: Mid-Morning
Camber looked at her printed-out map, fretting a little. Right then. Lina, at the garage. Between Jeremy and Dave, Camber knew where to go and who she was looking for, but beyond that she knew nothing about the woman she was going to be talking to.
Still, this constant doing nothing was driving her crazy. She felt like she was back in the house; especially sitting around on Elm Street with Brianna and Scott. She liked them well enough; hell, they were probably the only people she really felt she could trust. But it was becoming patently obvious that things were going south, quickly, in a way she recognized. The food was running out, the place was being abandoned. They were going to be left here to die when it hit winter, or before then.
There had to be something she could do. If that meant trying to prepare every car in town for winter, or gutting them and putting together a generator system, or devising some sort of biofuel conversion engine they could use recycled food oil in to get them out of here with. Granted, she'd never tried to do something like that, but she thought that maybe with an extra set of hands - and mind - and some books it might be possible.
The garage was, like everything else in town, a little bit abandoned looking, and she looked around as she walked in. "Hello?" she called, taking in the familiar, somewhat comforting scent of machine oil. It smelled like home to her, like her dad and a time before all this insanity.

With not a hell of a lot else to do, Lina's been continuing to go to work. She'd spent a good chunk of time fucking with the tanks to try and take the block out, but no go. That nixed out of possibilities, she'd just been keeping herself busy. She blinked at the sound of a voice, and headed out around the car she was tuning up. "Looking for someone?"
Camber smiled tightly and raised a hand. "Um, yeah - you, actually, I think. Lina, right?" She felt a bit awkward, appearing out of nowhere, and forged ahead. "I'm Cam. Camber. And, it turns out my number one useful skill is mechanics, and I hear you're the one to go to about that. I don't know, thought you might need a hand around here or something." She shrugged, maintaining a level facade of either way. She was desperate for something that would keep her hands busy, but she couldn't quite admit that.
Lina nodded at her name, and listened to Cam's offer with a bit of surprise. Not that any of that showed. She just shrugged. "You're welcome to do what you want. Nobody's asked for anything in a really long time, aside from winter-proofing cars to the best of my ability and trying to fix the tanks. All of the cars have been tampered with so they can only carry less gas - I went out of my goddamn mind trying to fix it, and no go. Fuckers made sure I wouldn't be fixin' that shit. So I've just been doing shit to keep myself busy. I'm guessing you want to do the same."
