Requests and offers (public)

Again, hello to all. My first entry here was deliberately done when many of you were tending to a crisis, but my first day here wasn't a pleasant one on most levels. So I'd like to just say hello again. Hi.

I'm wondering what sort of open access we have around town. The group housing is comforting? But I think that some voluntary socializing wouldn't hurt, either. So... do we have options? I found a lovely park today, and while I have thoughts on it, I know the cold isn't for everyone's liking. If there's a bar or restaurant or anything, I'd love to get a social night together. Surely we have a deck of cards somewhere in this town, right?

As for the park itself, I had some very nice, peaceful time there today, and I'd like to make an offer. I've been practicing tai chi since as early as I can remember, and if anyone is interested I would love the chance to share a bit with others. As a form of exercise, it offers balance training, breath control, and strengthening of one's limbs. As a meditative art? Well, my experiment was far from pleasant, and I count much of my survival to the peace of mind it brings me. Lastly, as a martial style, it is renowned for being a very nonviolent form of self-defense. So if even one person is interested, I am happy to share what I know.

Lastly, I have a request. I like to pretend I'm an artist sometimes, more as a personal distraction than any pretension of talent. But if anyone in town happens across paints or even found curiosities I could sculpt and build with, I would happily take them off your hands. If nothing is available? Well, I won't be terribly surprised. I hope everyone is well.

I for one am totally up for drinks and (poker? blackjack? ...pinochle?), sounds like fun.

...no, I am not the girliest of girls.

 - .

We'll find plenty to do, I think. Even if it's just hanging around for a few drinks. I'll let you know once I talk to a few more people. Do you even know where we'd get drinks in this town? I haven't looked through the directory yet or anything.

 - .

The directory informs me that there's a bar on Main Street where...Jack and Bethany work(ed?), if you know either of them? Don't know if it's open now that the town's boarded up, and I was never in it.

Aside from that, uh, raiding anything that looks like a liquor closet in the houses? These places are well-stocked every day, I wouldn't put it past the scientists to have provided us with something entertaining just for laughs.

Hello again!

The tai chi that you mentioned -- I'll take you up on the offer to learn, actually, if you don't mind? My experiment left me with some phobias that I know aren't rational but seem to be unable to help. If I can learn a trick or two to help keep calm and nip them in the bud, I'll be your star pupil. Besides, I like to keep active.

I don't know if you could use a boxful of musical instruments, but we have some that I'm sure no one would miss.

 - .

I'm nowhere near good enough to deserve a pupil, Will, but if you can stick with those words, I'll show you what I can. I've already done my regimen for the day, but if you're ready to start whenever? Meet me tomorrow down at the park off of Oakdale, wear something loose, but try to dress warmly as well. If the weather doesn't allow, I'll send you a message here to let you know I'm staying in. I'm looking forward to it.

And I can't guarantee that I'll use whatever it is you have to give? But I'll definitely take it off your hands. Even rummaging through the box will entertain me for a bit.

 - .

Then, I look forward to seeing you tomorrow (and hope that the weather holds out!).

I'll bring the box with me then, I suppose? Oakdale Drive is where I live, so it's just outside my door, really, but I can help you if anything's very bulky to carry to where-ever you're living, or however works best.

 - ..

I have a question about the tai chi. Would it be doable by someone with a disability like cerebral palsy? Because it's always fascinated me, and I'd love to learn something like that, but just not sure how it would work for me.

 - .

How hampering is your particular affliction? Are you required to use a wheelchair? If you are, there's still plenty of breathing and upper body exercises you could learn. If you're interested in at least trying, I'll be down at the park on Oakdale tomorrow morning. I'll send a message if that plan changes, but I hope to see you.

 - ..

It's not horrible, I have a wheelchair but don't have to use it all the time. I use braces to walk. But I'll give it a shot. Worst that could happen is I fall on my butt, right?

 - .

I would recommend bringing the chair as well, just in case. But don't worry about anything being too strenuous. Not only is tai chi meant to be very low impact, but we'll be focusing in on the most remedial motions.

 - ..

I was planning on doing that anyways. With this weather, I don't know how comfortable I feel walking on the sidewalks.

 - .

I recall the tai chi... I may, excuse me, be present.

 - .

I'd heard you were in town, Lilith. I'm pleased that you're alright, and of course you're welcome to join us.
