Introduction

It's late, but I am feeling more up to trying this out now. So hello to everyone who's out there that can read this. I'm Cheryl McKinney. I'm 22 and from Ohio. Some of you I may know. Some of you I don't. I'm sure I'll probably run into quite a few of you around town regardless.

I guess that's all I have to say right now. It's late and I don't really know what else there is.

 - Better late than never?

...Not that I can talk, all I've done so far is leave (probably inane) comments in other people's journal entries. I wonder what that says about me? Hi, I'm Nate - one of the volunteers here. Nice to meet you (sort of) Cheryl. What brings you to this (fine?) town? Anyway, welcome and happy trails and whatever else should go here. Take care.

 - So they say

Hi Nate. I'm here because they recommended I stay here while things were taken care of. Not that I had much choice, I guess. What made you volunteer for this? If you don't mind my asking. I can't imagine anyone wanting to come here on a voluntary basis - but then my view might be a bit skewed.

 - They do indeed

I don't mind you asking at all - I'm an open book. Maybe. :-)

I'm here with my wife - I'm an international human rights lawyer, she works in political advocacy. This kind of thing is basically what we do - go places, help try and smooth things over, give people a voice where they may not have had one before. It's early days yet and there's not much we can actually do at the moment, save for little things that people may need help with, but when things are slightly less hideously tangled we should be able to get you guys home faster. That's the plan, anyhow.

 - :)

If you're supposed to help get us home faster, then you're one of my new favorite people. It makes me feel a bit better to know there are people in town who know the deal and are working to *help*. So, thanks. It eases my mind a bit more.

 - I'm just a little ray of sunshine

I like being someone's favorite person - makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I do what I can and I hope I don't disappoint. I'm glad I could so easily ease your mind a little.

 - nothing wrong with that

Let's just saying I'm *trying* to give this whole situation the benefit of the doubt.
